I love books. I have always been in love with them since I can remember. My first favorites that my mom would read to me before bed were "Madeline", "Cookie's Week", and "Just Go to Bed!". I also loved Curious George and any Berenstein Bear book. I had quite a collection.
One of my favorite presents I ever received was a book called "Six by Seuss". It was a compilation of 6 Dr. Seuss books. It had The Lorax, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins, Horton Hatches the Egg, Yertle the Turtle, and To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street. These were all great and helped spur my imagination.
I mostly remember my mom being the one to put me to bed and read me stories, but I do have one memory of my dad reading me a story and being sooo funny! He did the voices all crazy and tickled me. Of course, I wasn't ready for bed after that because I wanted to play some more but it was still fun. My dad was always the practical joekster.
I remember living with my mom in Pocatello during the weeks she had school. I slept on one of those fold out chairs made of upholstered foam. They were really popular back then. Anyway, at night she would read a book or two with me and then put me to bed. I would lay there in the dark wondering what sorts of monsters were hiding, waiting to get me. I've always been pretty scared of the dark.
I think I slept more peacefully when I shared a room with one of my siblings. I would hate it when Laura would spend the night at a friends house and I was alone in our room at night. It made me miss her a lot even though we would constantly fight all day long.

oooh you missed me!!! I never knew! And I feel bad now because I was ALWAYS saying the night somewhere. Now I am going to sniffle a little thinking of you sad in the dark.
But oh how I loved reading before bed...when mom or dad would read...and then when we were old enough to lay in our separate bunks and read by ourselves...yet together...me with Fear Street...you with Goosebumps...Mom in her room with Stephen King...whoa...
