It is time for my resolutions. I want to have the best year that I can possibly have in 2012. 2011 has taught me that there are things I have no control over, but there are things that I do but choose not to.
After Atrion was born, I never lost the extra weight I gained from my pregnancy. I'm staying steady at 157 pounds and that is 32 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight and 37 pounds over my pre-marriage weight. I have my excuses for this and here they are for all the world to see:
~I have no energy.
~I have no time.
~I need more relaxing time to keep my stress down (relaxing being watching TV, reading, or other sedentary activities).
~I get too bored doing repetitive activities like running or exercise videos.
~Can't afford the expense of a gym membership.
~Healthy food is more expensive, doesn't last long, and is harder to make taste good.
~Let's face it, it's quicker to take something out of the freezer and pop it in the oven
Now. I learned from a wise employer to never make an excuse or take an excuse from anybody. My life is in my control and making an excuse is putting the control onto someone/something else.
Here are my excuse busters:
~I will have more energy if I am healthier and don't weigh myself down with icky foods. Exercise is proven to help boost energy.
~I have as much time in a day as everyone else. Making 20 minutes to work out should not be as difficult as I think it is in my mind. The laundry and dishes can wait.
~I can have relaxing time after I work out. Exercise has also proven to be a stress buster.
~I would rather be bored for twenty minutes a day than fat everyday.
~I don't need to go to a gym. I already spent all that money on P90X and Jillian Michaels DVDs. Taking walks and chasing Atrion is great exercise too.
~Healthy food doesn't have to be so hard. How about stop eating junk like candy, soda and chips for the first bit and then work on meals. Baby Steps.
~Any meal tastes better when more effort is put in. Make pre-made meals from scratch and freeze those for ease of use later.
Okay so there's my first goal. Lose 30 pounds this year. My game plan: Work out 5 days a week for at least 20 minutes, drop soda and sugary drinks, limit snacking, smaller meal portions, don't get discouraged. Bam. I'll keep you posted on that.
My next goal is to blog more. I can combine this with my first one and blog about my fitness updates, as well as posting more fun things and journal entries. Should be nice. I am aiming for one blog a week at least.
These are my two big resolutions and I hope to stay motivated with them throughout the year...and beyond.
Any suggestions ya'll have would be great.

I think the very most important thing to remember is exercise is fantastic in every way EXCEPT for losing weight. It takes burning 1300 calories to lose one single pound. And a super hard hour long work out is probably 600 at best. It is ALL about the food. Find recipes you love that won't hurt you, and cut out not just soda (and diet), but all sugar drinks, including 100% juices.
I made this tonight, it is YUMMY, and you can fill up on it.http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/cuban-black-bean-soup-699396/
It does take a long time because you must use dry beans. But I just started it this morning.
Good luck. This is one of the hardest things to do ever. But you can.
I hope 2012 is a fantastic year for you all...and while I say this I hope it is for me too;)
You definitely had an interesting 2011 filled with tons of change. It has been great having you live so close and I will miss you back in Idaho...but what is great is I know we will still talk just as much!!
I am glad you are my sister! I don't care about your weight...I love you no matter what! (I of course will cheer you on though and hope you just feel good and energized and happy!)
Love you!
oh I meant 3500 calories for a pound. So lame.
The thing about exercise though, is that it boosts your metabolism so that even when you aren't working out, your body is metabolizing more and you aren't storing fat. Eating healthy is wise too and you definitely lose more when they are coupled together.
Stumbled upon your blog randomly, and one of my goals (whose isn't?) is also to lose weight. I'm reading a "simplifying your life" book, and the first chapter is on "Eating your frog", in other words, doing what you hate the most, first thing. I keep this in mind with regards to exercise, because it's not something I really enjoy, either (and not only do I have P90x and Jillian Michaels, but also Wii Zumba!). As for foods, you can make unhealthy foods healthier. One thing I've really come to rely on is my microwave potato chip maker, which is really simple to use, and they come out just as good as regular potato chips without all the fat and grease from frying, and with much better taste than baking! You can also use it to make apple chips and sweet potato chips. http://pamperedchef.biz/dawnskitchenware?page=products-detail&categoryId=123&itemId=1241&productId=35216
