Spring Break Part II

Since I have been so tardy putting this post together, it isn't going to be as detailed as the previous. However, I do have many pictures that should make up for the lack of comprehensive narrating.

Monday, March 15th- After staying up rather late the previous night doing homework and exploring the many fascinating distractions of the casino, I awoke the next morning and decided to take Atrion for a quick swim before we had to check out. As it turns out the pool was on the roof and the wind was a bit chilly so he stayed in the water for less than 3 minutes. Just long enough for me to get some pictures of him.

After that, we all got packed up and checked out, but before we left the hotel we met up with my mom, Grandma, Aunt Faye, and Aunt Diana to have one last meal together. We ate at the buffet that served all sorts of food. There was Asian cuisine, southern comfort food, Mexican dishes, and a meat carving section.
After we ate we waid goodbye to Aunt Faye and Aunt Diana. Then we hit the road to Mobile, Alabama. That is where Grandma Hughes lives. On the way out of town we had to stop at the beach for a few minutes and play in the sand. It was such a nice day and Atrion was very curious about the sand. We were there for about 15 minutes. These are some of my favorite pictures of the whole trip.

It was so nice being at my Grandma's house. She lives in a nice little neighborhood and it was very quiet. She has a nice patio with a porch swing that was absolutely lovely to sit on since I hadn't been able to lounge outside all winter. We ate an awesome seafood feast of shrimp, lobster, crab and oysters. We had a redbox movie to watch almost every night. Atrion wasn't sleeping very well since he didn't feel very good. He had horrible diarrhea from eating different foods that he wasn't used to. That went on for about 3 days and I was exhausted. I had to change his pajamas 3 times in one night. Poor guy. I was seriously contemplating buying a ticket home early.

But things started to look up when we went to the beach on Thursday the 18th. It was not as nice of weather as the first beach excursion, but we had a whole day to relax. Laura, Josh, and Jake rented a waterski and went out on the water for about a half hour. We mostly just played in the sand. Atrion started getting really, really, really, fussy so I had to rock him to sleep while he was screaming his lungs out at me. He still had a rotten tummy, so he started not feeling so good. Plus, he isn't used to being outside for long stretches yet. Since he was so grumpy, this made me pretty grumpy so we packed up and got changed. Atrion fell asleep and so I discreetly changed all of his clothes. He was so adorable.
We talked to a local and found that the best place to eat a Poboy was at Bahama Bob's. I got an oyster Poboy and we split two appetizers between us: fried alligator tail, and fried pickles. The alligator tasted a lot like Winger's chicken tenders with the delicious wingers sauce. They were yummy.

After Bahama Bob's we went to a little amusement park and rode go-karts and played arcade games. Then we headed back to GG's house.
On Friday we drove to Jackson so that we could stay the night and drop Jake off at the airport early that morning. The hotel was the same one we stayed in a week earlier.
On Saturday, Josh took Jake to the airport and then we got packed up to head to Hernando. On he way out of town we stopped at a nice outdoor mall that had stores such as Apple, Charming Charlie's, Anthropology, Lucky Jeans, and a Fresh Foods market. The stores were really expensive except for Charming Charlie's and the food market. I bought Laura a necklace from Charming Charlie's and then went over to the food market and loaded up on deliciousness. I got a tasty roastbeef sandwhich, some coconut macaroons, sushi rolls, and water. That got me through the 3 hour drive to Hernando.
After that, we just hung out with each other and watched movies. On Monday, the 22nd,
we drove to Memphis and stayed the night so that I could just go right to the airport. We had dinner at Uncle Lou's which was on "Diners, Drive in, and Dives" and also "The Best Thing I ever Ate: with my Hands" on Food Network because they have AMAZING wings. The onion rings were also delicious. I got fried okra as well, but that wasn't very spectacular. I also got a cheeseburger that was huge and tasty, but very messy. I really don't like to get messy when I eat so I enjoyed the taste but not the mess.

Josh took me to the airport early Tuesday morning and I caught my plane on time. I upgraded to first class which was nice. I got my own seat and had lots of room. That was a long flight so it was nice to be able to spread out a little bit. When I got to the Denver airport I went to wait for my next plane since it was taking off really soon and found out that it was cancelled due to a mechanical problem. This made me want to start crying since I just wanted to go home. But I bucked up and talked to customer service and got the next available flight to SLC which was with Frontier instead of United. The Frontier plane was nice because it had a tv in the back of every seat, so I got to watch Bobby Flay while Atrion slept.
I was so relieved when I got off the plane and got all my luggage in one piece. And then seeing Cody was the best part. I love him.
I really enjoyed my trip. Despite the fact that I had to sleep through tornado watches(on the 2nd or 3rd night I was there, there was a tornado watch and I had to hide under the blankets), driving tons and tons, and having my planes delayed and then cancelled it was awesome. I love my family and am so glad I got see them. I miss Laura, Josh, and Carter a ton and wish we all lived closer.
